Ohio legislators introduce bill to curb sports betting

(AsiaGameHub) – The Save Ohio Sports Act aims to establish new safeguards for consumers.
US.- A coalition of state legislators in Ohio has put forth the Save Ohio Sports Act. This proposed legislation seeks to impose restrictions on sports betting and would prohibit mobile betting operations.
State Representatives Gary Click, Riordan McClain, and Johnathan Newman are the sponsors of this bill. It would implement caps on the amounts that can be wagered and the frequency of bets. Furthermore, it would outlaw prop bets, in-game wagers, and parlays. Betting on college sports would be disallowed, and advertisements for gambling would be prohibited within arenas and during broadcasts.
Individuals would be limited to a maximum of $100 per wager and would be permitted to place only eight wagers within a 24-hour timeframe. Betting would exclusively be permitted in person at an authorized casino.
In August 2025, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine called on the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) to remove prop bets from the list of permissible bets that licensed sportsbooks in the state are authorized to offer. This recommendation followed an investigation that led Major League Baseball (MLB) to place two Cleveland Guardians pitchers on leave.
