關於 alleged Jeffrey Epstein 自殺遺書的重點資訊

(SeaPRwire) –   紐約一名法官公開了一份據稱由已定罪性犯罪者傑弗里·愛潑斯坦所寫的遺書。該文件原本因涉及對這位億萬富翁前獄友的刑事調查而被封存。

reportedly 發現這份文件的獄友尼古拉斯·塔塔aglia諾（Nicholas Tartaglione）表示，他是在2019年7月，也就是愛潑斯坦首次試圖自殺數週後，於紐約都會看守所找到此信的。

「他們調查了我好幾個月——什麼也沒查到！」信中寫道。「能夠選擇自己說再見的時間是一件好事。」

信上繼續寫著：「你想我怎麼做？大哭一場嗎？一點都不好玩——不值得。」

「不好玩」這幾個字也出現在CBS從愛潑斯坦死後留下的牢房中獲得的另一封信裡。兩封信中都有劃線強調。此外，愛潑斯坦似乎也在2016年由司法部公開的一封電子郵件中使用過「你想我怎麼做——大哭一場」這句話。

愛潑斯坦首次 apparent 的自殺 attempts

這封信沒有署名。《時代》雜誌無法獨立驗證是否為愛潑斯坦親筆所寫，並已向司法部尋求評論。

司法部公布的 records 顯示，2019年7月23日，愛潑斯坦被發現「無反應」地躺在牢房內；當天稍晚時他宣稱，當時正在候審一樁 quadruple murder 案件的塔塔aglia諾曾攻擊他。隨後這位性罪犯被列為 suicide watch 對象。

接著記錄顯示，塔塔aglia諾似乎在幾天後找到了這封信。之後愛潑斯坦因涉嫌遭 assault 而轉移至另一間 cell，最終於2019年8月10日被發現死亡。 medical examiner 後來判定其死因係自殺。

塔塔aglia諾已於2024年6月被判 four consecutive life sentences，每項罪名對應其所犯下的四起 murders。

要求 unseal 文件的 push

紐約白原市聯邦地區法院法官肯尼斯·M·卡拉斯（Kenneth M. Karas）在收到《纽约时报》於4月30日提出的 release request 後，於週三發布了這封信件。

民主黨籍伊利諾州眾議員拉賈·克里希南納莫西（Raja Krishnamoorthi）也促請司法部 unseal 該文件。他在5月4日致函司法部時呼籲公開此信。

克里希南納莫西寫道：「傑弗里·愛潑斯坦的 survivors deserve a full and transparent accounting of all pertinent information。」

他向《時代》表示，自己在愛潑斯坦轉監後，於 graphic novel 中發現 folded 的信紙；他將此信交給自己的律師。

scrutiny over Epstein associations continues

自1月文件公開以來，several high-profile names have resigned from positions following questions about alleged association with Epstein。

在英國方面，首相凱爾·史塔默（Keir Starmer） continued to face scrutiny over his decision to appoint Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the U.S. despite being aware of ongoing correspondence between Mandelson and Epstein。
